Exploring "The Alley"

We've been here a few days now, still staying in temporary lodging so that we had "entertainment" for the weekend.  See, when we move into our house on Wed, we will not have a TV or the Internet just yet! They have loaner furniture that we will use until our furniture and such arrives sometime in October *yes, you may freak out now--b/c I am!!* but that does not include a TV! We are looking into getting one...even though we only get a total of about 8 channels, period! And nothing is up to date like back home!

Anyhow---while we have been trying to adjust to the time change, it has not been easy!!! We are 7 hrs ahead of the time we are used to so it's been tough! J-Twice will have a hard time getting up for work Monday morning! :)

We have been to "The Alley" right outside the gates of the base.  Our second night here, our sponsor took us to dinner at a Turkish restaurant that is a favorite around here.  It's called "Moonlight" and I actually enjoyed it! I had Chicken Schnitzel, which can easily be described as a fried, flattened chicken breast. J-Twice had Chicken Tava (which looked like pieces of chicken in tomato soup to me!) He says it is very tasty.  They have cheesy bread that is served with a jam/honey combo or a garlic sauce....I have been tasting that jam/honey combo on that bread since we left!! ha ha Most definitely a place we will return to!

After dinner, we walked along the alley to see all the shops they offer.  There are tons of furniture stores, carpet stores (their specialty), suit stores, and such. We also found the hair salon woo hoo!!! the prices are VERY cheap, so here's to hoping they do a decent job!

The next day we were offered to ride along to the mall with one of the guys J-Twice will be working with.  We weren't really sure what to expect but it was an experience! I now know how people who visit America and can't read or speak English feel like.  (needless to say, I went to the library today and rented some CD's on learning to speak Turkish). Some familiar places were Gap, Polo, Burger King, McDonald's, and Sabarro! LOL

Today, we ventured on over to the pool and got a little bit of sun for a few hours, found the bowling alley(they have decent food there!! lol) and the library....each day continuing to find more!

Stay tuned!

Oh yes...and I get to look at these daily---def. a change from DC! :)
